ABOUT THE GROUP

We meet on the third Thursday of the month from September to April at the Unitarian Church Hall, Scotfoth, Lancaster, Lancashire, England. These meetings start at 7-30pm and we always have an interesting programme of speakers giving slide lectures on a range of subjects Alpine. The venue is easy to find being situated at the traffic lights in Scotforth on the main A.6. road just south of Lancaster. At meetings we have a display table where members are invited to bring and exhibit any plant that members may be interested in seeing. Sometimes spare plants are brought for sale, we have a book sales table and an extensive lending library for the use of members. Anybody is welcome to come and a nominal charge is made on the door which covers refreshments.

In March we also stage The Blackpool Show and for the last five years have put on an exhibit at the 'Great Garden and Countryside Fair' at Holker Hall in Cumbria. In that time we have won a Silver Gilt, two Golds and one Large Gold. Last year the Group's display earned a Large Gold Medal and a Best in Show Award.
